January 28, 2020;

I have improved an immense amount. and I have learned a lot. I learned a lot about the compositions of  a picture, how to capture a viewers attention, the different lighting for the portraits and images. I found a soft spot for photography and realized that I am a landscape photographer than a portrait photographer, i learned that I prefer black and white photography over color. I enjoy capturing textures and depth in my photos. I learned the difference between a fast shutter and a slow shutter, I learned how to use Adobe Photoshop. I learned to color sample. I went from a noob photo fiend to a passionate photographer. My creativity, skyrocketed and I now take photos wherever I am. I enjoyed this class more than I had anticipated and it has sparked my photographic curiosity.

I went from my weakest:

To my Best:

Artist Reflection: Neon Black Light and Double Exposure Photography

1. Which picture is the best shot of this assignment? Why?
I really liked this image because of  how the sepia affects the overlay, it gave it this strange fading vintage tint.

2. Which picture is the weakest shot of this assignment? Why?
I feel like this image, could be better, its just not as aesthetically pleasing as the first image.

3. How can the weakest image be improved on in future shoots?
I feel like it turned out like this because I didn't have a big enough variety of portraits and landscapes to choose from.

4. Did you use Photoshop, Lightroom, or both? What tools in the programs did you use to edit the pictures?
I used photoshop, to adjust the levels, create layers, overlay, and change the

5. Explain how were you able to meet the objectives (GOALS) of the assignment?
I honestly don't feel like I met the objectives, the images that I have weren't that good of a combination.

6. What was easy about this assignment? Why?

There was nothing easy about this assignment, it was a struggle to find the portraits, and then find a landscape that went with it, and find the perfect position for the overlay. Sometimes I'd have the perfect image but none of my landscapes match/work with it, and vise versa.

7. What was difficult about this assignment? Why?

Again, everything was difficult for this assignment as I stated above.

8. If you could do this assignment again, what would you do differently?

I would get a better variety of pictures, like a whole lot more pictures.

9. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being your best effort) how would you rate your effort in this project? Why would you give yourself that rating?

8: I honestly got so frustrated halfway that i started to just match random images with each other.

10. Feedback

"Both of these Images are beautiful, especially the first image, the quality is good, the composition, and the detailing. But the levels of the second image could have been altered so that the rose appeared a bit clearer." - On Elaine Rodrigues

Artist Reflection: Portrait

1. Which picture is the best shot of this assignment? Why?
This is my best shot because of the positioning of  the model, the lighting, and the split at the middle of the face.

2. Which picture is the weakest shot of this assignment? Why?
The objective of this photo was to create the butterfly shadow, but the shadow is barely visible in the image.

3. How can the weakest image be improved on in future shoots?
The image quality , and a more precise accomplishment of the objective/goal.

4. Did you use Photoshop, Lightroom, or both? What tools in the programs did you use to edit the pictures?
I used Photoshop to adjust the levels, make it black and white.

5. Explain how were you able to meet the objectives (GOALS) of the assignment?
I adjusted the lighting and posture of the model being photographed, so that i could create each type of portrait.

6. What was easy about this assignment? Why?
The easy part was the editing.

7. What was difficult about this assignment? Why?
The most difficult part was taking the "Butterfly" portrait.

8. If you could do this assignment again, what would you do differently?
I definitely would retake my Butterfly portrait, and use a different model with a slimmer and longer nose to create a better shadow.

9. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being your best effort) how would you rate your effort in this project? Why would you give yourself that rating?
10, I tried my best to take the best Butterfly shot and i had to keep retaking it until I had ine that was at least decent.

Artist Reflection: Colorized

1. Which picture is the best shot of this assignment? Why?
I feel like the best shot of this assignment is this image because of the aesthetic of the photo, I just gravitated towards this picture more than all of the other ones.

2. Which picture is the weakest shot of this assignment? Why?
My weakest shot of this assignment is this image because I just felt like it was boring and the composition was ok.

3. How can the weakest image be improved on in future shoots?
A totally different shot would have been best.

4. Did you use Photoshop, Lightroom, or both? What tools in the programs did you use to edit the pictures?
I used Photoshop to get the different layers apart from the raw photos, like the B&W, sepia and edited layers.

5. Explain how were you able to meet the objectives (GOALS) of the assignment?
I used the photoshop tool and a camera.

6. What was easy about this assignment? Why?
Taking the pictures was the easiest part because it was enjoyable.

7. What was difficult about this assignment? Why?
The most difficult part of this project was the editing, it was extremely difficult using the layer mask because of how tedious the outlining of the photo was.

8. If you could do this assignment again, what would you do differently?
I honestly would choose completely different photos.

9. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being your best effort) how would you rate your effort in this project? Why would you give yourself that rating?
9, I ran out of time and rushed some of the pictures because the editing took way too long.
